What happens to my mail after I close my account?

Updated over 2 months ago

Even after you close your account, there are a few important steps to take:

1. Notify Your Senders

Be sure to inform your contacts of your new mailing address.
USPS does not forward mail from Commercial Mail Receiving Agencies (CMRAs) like US Global Mail. That means we can’t redirect it—and USPS won’t either.

2. We Still Receive Your Mail for 6 Months

By federal regulation, we’re required to accept mail on your behalf for up to 6 months after account closure—even though your account is inactive. USPS rules prohibit us from refusing, returning, or re-mailing your items without new postage.

After 6 months, we will no longer accept mail in your name.
