Why do I have storage fees on my invoice?

How we charge for storage of letters and packages after free storage days expire.

Updated over a week ago

Storage fees apply when mail or packages remain in your account beyond the free storage period included in your plan. Each U.S. Global Mail plan includes a set number of free storage days:

Plan

Essentials

Virtual Teams

Once an item exceeds the included storage period, we charge a small daily fee based on item type and volume.

Letters: $0.05 per letter
Packages: $0.10 per pound

Why do we charge storage? It helps keep our operations efficient, ensures fair use of space, and encourages timely action on your mail. Minimum Charge Thresholds Invoices are subject to a minimum monthly charge threshold. If the total charges for individual items in a given period are less than this minimum amount, those charges are carried over to a later invoice. Once the accumulated charges meet or exceed the minimum threshold, they are included in the invoice for that period. This explains why older items may appear on a later invoice date range than expected.

Avoiding Storage Fees

To avoid charges, simply:

  • Forward, scan, shred, or discard your mail within the free period

  • Consolidate and ship mail before free days expire

Any item accruing storage is clearly marked in the item details drawer which you can access by clicking on the item. Storage fees may also appear for items no longer visible in your mailbox because the fees are based on the storage duration before the item was shipped, discarded, or otherwise removed.
